Conference Awards & Grants

Each year, universities, individual chapter schools, and associations provide modest financial support to students who are presenting or attending a conference. The National Conference Planning Committee has compiled a list of funding opportunities to support your conference experience. Please consult the list below for an overview of the awards and grants available. For more information, please contact the respective university, CNSA chapter, and/or association.

Awards will be posted as they are received therefore make sure to continuously check to see if any become available in your regional, school, etc.

University of Manitoba

This opportunity is open to nursing students from the University of Manitoba College of Nursing Program. This award is intended to help more nursing students attend the 2017 CNSA National Conference in Winnipeg with financial help coming from the University of Manitoba College of Nursing Endowment Fund. It is the hope of the University of Manitoba College of Nursing Endowment Fund that successful applicants will come away from the conference experience inspired to impact their community and motivated to make a difference in the field of nursing. Successful applicants will have their conference registration covered at the cost of $185, and will be required to write a 1 page paper post conference about their experience at the conference.

How to Apply:

You will be required to fill out a 1 page application as well as write a one page paper including:

  • Why you chose nursing?

  • How do you want to improve as a nurse?

  • What will attending this conference mean to you?

All conference applications must be received in a sealed envelope labelled CNSA Conference Application c/o Nursing Students’ Association no later then Friday, November 11th, 2016 at 1200 hrs. Applications can be dropped off at the NSA office at room 222 in the Helen Glass Centre for Nursing (please slide your application under the door if the office is closed when you are submitting your application).

RNAO Region 7 Student Sponsorship Funding

This conference funding is generously sponsored by the Registered Nurses’ Association of Ontario Region 7. To view the application form, please click here.

  1. Must be a current RNAO Region 7 Nursing Student member.

  2. Must be a current nursing student in a credible nursing program of a Post-Secondary Institution in Region 7 or live in Region 7 catchment area – see map: http://chapters.rnao.ca/toronto-east

  3. Must have submitted the attached application form by Thursday, November 24, 2016 at 11:59pm EST.

  4. Must attend the 2017 Canadian Nursing Students’ Association (CNSA)’s National Conference (Jan. 25- 27, 2017) in Winnipeg, Manitoba in its entirety.

  5. Must NOT claim funding from more than one source of sponsorship (ie. from “Ryerson Nursing Course Union (NCU)-Canadian Nursing Students’ Association Conference (CNSA) Award”, “CNSA National Team”, and “Canadian Nursing Students’ Association (CNSA) National Conference Scholarship”).

Procedure:

  1. Applicants who meet all the above criteria should submit their completed application form to studentsrnaoregion7@gmail.com and necessary documents (SCAN ORIGINAL RECEIPTS ONLY) to Claudette Holloway and So-Yan Seto at claudetteholloway3@gmail.com and sseto@toronto.ca

  2. Any LATE OR INCOMPLETE application (received after Thursday, November 24, 2016 at 11:59pm EST) will not be considered.

Application Review Procedure:

  1. All applications for this funding will be reviewed by the Region 7 Student Funding Review Committee and final approval by the Treasurer and Region 7 Representative (or designate(s)).

  2. The funding pool of $3000 will be divided up the eligible applicants with up to $750 for each applicant.

  3. Successful applicants will be notified through email by Monday, November 28, 2016.

  4. Students will be required to attend the conference and submit proof of attendance receipts (conference registration, hotel, transportation) by Monday, February 6, 2017 at 11:59pm EST. No funding will be provided for extra expenses, such as food, extra flight baggage, or souvenirs.

  5. All eligible applicants that have received funding must provide 250 word paragraph summarizing their experience at the conference, including what they learned by emailing the paragraph to claudetteholloway3@gmail.com and sseto@toronto.ca and giving consent for this paragraph to shared on RNAO Region 7 website by Monday, February 6, 2017 at 11:59pm EST. Pictures are encouraged and welcomed to be included with the paragraph.
